Wed. Sched. vol. 8/15

Welcome to the first of many fall Wednesday schedules, or as I like to call them in short – the “Wed Scheds.”

The intent of the Wed Sched is to outline, in more detail than the band calendar, specifics regarding report times, itineraries and logistics.

The Wed Sched is intended to cover events spanning Thursday thru the following Wednesday when the next Wed Sched would be published.

Wed Scheds will be posted here on the Band Blog, located on the band website.

So, with that said, here is this week’s Wed Sched:

 

Thursday, August 15th – BAND PREMIERE NIGHT!!!!

Summer Uniform attire – Grey polo (provided), Khaki shorts (school code), black sneakers or marching shoes, short black socks, belt, khaki hat (provided).

5:00pm  – Band Hall open

5:30pm – Band member inspection in auditorium

6:30pm – Doors open

7:00pm – Premiere Performance

This is the band’s first performance of the year!  We will begin with a presentation in the auditorium where individual sections including the percussion, color guard, and winds will be featured separately as well as the Silver Sound – performing, in concert, some familiar stands tunes as well as excerpts from the band’s 2018 competitive show, “Valkyrie.”

Report time for members is 5:30pm, in the auditorium.

Doors open at 6:30pm for parents, alumni, and supporters.

Performance in the auditorium will begin at 7pm.  The order of performance:

Color Guard

Percussion

Winds

Winds and Percussion Concert

Winds and Color Guard – Field Exhibition

 

Friday, August 16th – HOME Football Game, 7:30pm kickoff

4:30pm  – Band Hall open

5:30pm – Band member inspection in auditorium

5:45pm – Walk through

6:30pm – Walk to stadium

7:15pm – Pregame

7:30pm – Kickoff

10:30pm – estimated end of game

11:15pm – estimated dismissal.  Text 81010 to @mayriverhs to receive text messages announcing actual dismissal times.

Friday is the football team’s first game of the season, and yes, it is a district game.  We are happy to be there in support as the school’s “largest spirit organization.”

OPEN HOUSE is from 5pm – 7pm on Friday before the game.

The band department will not be hosting an OPEN HOUSE with the school.  We held our own open house of sorts during Band Registration Day on July 28th.

Band students that wish to meet their other 3 teachers for semester one may do so between 5:00 – 5:25pm.

All band students are expected to be in the auditorium at 5:30pm, ready for inspection with all summer uniform items, instrument or equipment, flip folder (winds), binders (percussion),  and a cooler.

Saturday, August 18th – NO BAND EVENTS.  There was an early printing of a calendar that listed a rehearsal for Saturday, August 18th.  That rehearsal has long since disappeared from the official online band calendar located on this website.

Monday, August 20th – Marching Band Rehearsal, 4:00-6:30pm

Tuesday, August 21st – Marching Band Rehearsal, 4:00-6:30pm

Wednesday, August 22nd – No Band Events

 

Looking ahead:

Thursday, August 23rd – Marching Band Rehearsal

Friday, August 24th – Football @ Bluffton High School – the band will be traveling to this away football game.
