Greetings Band Families!
Hope you have had a fantastic week, everyone!
This week’s program notes are pretty much a rehash of last week’s notes, with the addition of some fantastic artwork for our upcoming 2nd Annual Pancake Breakfast with Santa, on February 9th at Outback Steakhouse:
Ticket request envelopes went home with the students earlier this week. We hope that everyone can get in the spirit and help make this fundraiser double last year’s profit!
Thank you to everyone that helped the the “weekend blitz” sale for the the wreaths, garland, etc. We raised over $1000 over that weekend!
Saturday, December 2nd all band members will participate in the Bluffton Christmas Parade. The band will meet at MRHS at 7:30am, and depart at 8am. The parade begins at 10am. A more detailed itinerary will be forthcoming.
Monday, December 4th we will hold our winter general band parent meeting at MRHS in the band hall. We will discuss upcoming events and fundraising efforts for 2018. We will also have the wreath orders prepared for pick-up, along with Pancake Breakfast tickets. The band has rehearsal that day from 4-6:15pm. The meeting will begin promptly following rehearsal at 6:30pm.
Tuesday, December 12th, the May River HS Band Department will hold its Winter Band Concert beginning at 6:30pm in the auditorium. Immediately following the MRHS concert, the Low Country Community Concert Band will hold its winter concert “Winter Soundscapes.” The ensemble features several May River HS band students. You are more than welcome to stay and enjoy the concert.
Many of the band members are working diligently for the upcoming All-County band auditions. Students will prepare audition recordings for consideration for selection in this “All-School District” honors ensemble. So, encourage your child to keep working on their scales and audition etudes. Recordings will be monitored by Mr. Carbone, and will be submitted by December 15th. Audition requirements and schedule information is located on the band’s Google Classroom.
“The Black Box” has arrived. The band boosters now have a black lock-box located in the band office. This will make the remittance of booster related expense items, such as shoes and gloves, more convenient for the students. The students have been kindly reminded if they have yet to pay for such items. We hope that we can close the books on the marching season here soon, so please send any outstanding payments for shoes and gloves ASAP. Thank you.
We will not have a Program Notes publication next week due to the Thanksgiving holiday.
On behalf of myself and the staff, HAPPY THANKSGIVING to you and your family!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
