Shelby Ledbetter

Director of Bands

I eagerly write to introduce myself as the new Director of Bands at May River High School. Music is as essential to the soul as air is a necessity for the human life. It has held a vigor and challenge accompanied with gratitude and splendor for nearly two decade of my life. I hail from Avon, IN.
I appeal to May River as we continue the tremendous success that has come before and will shape our endeavors as we move forward and set our horizons farther and farther. My aim is to create sensational extraordinary experiences derived from rigorous discipline, ignited passion, and a unified sound of intense purity.  I am thrilled to join this wonderful terrific band family in that we will rise from the terrific foundations of this program in efforts to expand the depth and magnitude of the accomplishments that have yet to come.

I am a clarinetist from the University of South Carolina where I obtained my bachelor and masters degrees and performed with the USC Wind Ensemble, Symphony Orchestra, Opera Orchestra, Palmetto Concert Band, and the Mighty Sound of the Southeast Marching Band.
